New Photo Album and Video of EMS Memorial Bike Ride 2007

We are a volunteer student organization
dedicated to providing service and community education regarding
Emergency Medical Services. Our members offer CPR classes and
education to the public about the EMS profession. We provide
first aid stand-by services for sporting events and community
fundraising events. Our members are students who are
studying to become paramedics at Inver Hills Community College.
Many of our members are certified EMT-Basics. |

TraumaROO Safety Program
Regions Hospital and the Inver Hills EHS Student Association have teamed up to provide safety presentations to first and second grade children in the metropolitan St. Paul area and Dakota County. Traumaroo is the children's safety program of the American Trauma Society that employs the services of the animated character "Troo" to teach important safety habits, with "fun" as a key component. How the Program Works
After children finish viewing the Troo video, the facilitator (one of
the EHS Student association EMTs) structures discussions in which
children can explore and share their responses to the program. The
Traumaroo program's message is further reinforced as children use the
activity books, which feature safety-related word games, connect the
dots, coloring pages, puzzles, and other activities.

![]() CPR Course at Augsburg-Fairview Academy for Health Care Careers. April 2007 - 60 students and 9 staff members certified in Health Care Provider CPR.
CPR at IHCC Student Success Day October 3, 2007 - 27 students completed the HeartSaver course.

The student association offers CPR classes to community groups. This activity is meant to help lay persons learn CPR and First Aid and decrease morbidity and mortality from sudden cardiac arrest. These classes are personalized to the group that is requesting the course. A donation to the Student Association is customary and is tax deductible.

April-May 2007 The EHSSA helped Ridgeview Ambulance by giving ambulance tours for Elementary kids at Ridgeview Hospital

Show-and-tell EMS
Demonstrations The EHSSA is often invited to give ambulance tours and show the community what EMTs and Paramedic do. At Jean Lyle children's center this year, we were invited again to show kids how to wear helmets properly and teach them about bicycle safety.

Medical Standby The EHS student association is often requested to provide first aid at special events such as bike rides, marathons, parades, sporting events and school functions. Certified Emergency Medical Technicians provide first response only and assist local EMS agencies when requested.
