EMS Memorial Bike Ride 2007

Never let us forget...

In 2007, a team of 15 students from Inver Hills Community College participated in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride.  Their assistance was invaluable and their youthful optimism contagious.  More importantly, the instructional and inspirational value this voyage had on the entire EMS student body cannot be described in words.  From fund raising to reduce their cost for the trip, to creating a website www.emsbikers.com  and logistics planning to learn about incident management, all the way their streaming tears after hugging the families of fallen EMS providers. This was so powerful almost all of them are returning this year.

Come May 17-24, 2008, The EHS Student association wants to challenge you to put together a team of your own, and join us!

The EMS memorial bike ride being held again this year: May 17-24, 2008.  Registration for cyclists is only $200; volunteers register for $50. With little advocacy for death benefits and improved safety,... it's time to swing into action.  Help us raise public awareness so that EMS may be safer, and our fallen providers are remembered appropriately.

Why: To pay tribute to those who have given their lives to care for others.  To raise awareness and learn about line-of-duty deaths in EMS.

What: Approximately 600 miles of biking in 7 days.  The ride arrives in Roanoke in time to participate in this year’s induction ceremonies.  Motorized support, mechanical support and escorts by police through major cities.

Special Thanks to Erica for putting together a great video of our journey.
