The Inver Hills Community College Emergency Medical
Services Program offers quality EMS education and occupational preparation in
the field of pre-hospital emergency care.
The Emergency Medical Services
program at Inver Hills Community College includes a comprehensive two-year
associate degree program for paramedics that meets and exceeds the United States
Department of Transportation guidelines for paramedic education. Paramedic
students have their choice of the A.S. Degree track, a Certificate track and an
Accelerated A.S. Degree track for those already certified as paramedics who want
to complete a degree. Program graduates are eligible to take the National
Registry of Emergency Medical Technician written and practical exams and become
State of Minnesota and Nationally certified.
First Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians and
Paramedics are primarily employed in public safety agencies,
hospitals, private ambulance services and local
government positions, including fire departments and public ambulance services
and provide care in a variety of
emergency medical and traumatic situations.
With enough education or experience, EMTs and
paramedics can also become emergency service supervisors, managers, directors or
even executive directors.
